no-one would've believed
Jeff Waynes Musical Version of War Of The Worlds @ The Royal Albert HallI wasn't sure what to expect but have to say it was a top notch experience. It was an odd mix of cgi, animation of the
original artwork, live action and of course an enormous orchestra and band playing all the music. The royal albert hall is an amazing venue for this sort of thing and we were lucky to have front row seats in the circle so had a perfect view. Didnt get any pics unfortunately but there are some from the Bournemouth dress rehersal
here and
here. Check out the Richard Burton floating head and the 4 ton, 40 foot Tripod!
happy easter
easter weekend summary...
down to cornwall on friday with a few million other people, m4 chocka, m5 more chocka, 5 and a half hours in total. met up with owen and leah who were down in
polzeath for the weekend. luckily it was a worthwhile drive as friday and saturday had some of the best surf I've ever seen on the north coast of cornwall. not huge but
beautifully peeling 4-6 foot waves of the purest blue/green in some lovely sunshine. then on saturday after a good surf and a pasty I headed off to portland to meet up with some more friends to drink some cider and camp with an ace view of chesil beach. we cooked an outdoor feast of sausages and mash and lamb chops and washed it down with some warming hot spicy cider (it was almost glastonbury like but the cider and food were of better quality and there was less chance of having a scally go through your tent whilst sleeping).
sunday I headed home to catch up with the light of my life who had been revising all weekend. we spent the rest of the weekend, taking the dog out eating chinese and watching
Ghostbusters! actually I also cooked a rather nice roast chicken with thyme roast potatoes, carrot+swede mash and spring cabbage yesterday but no picture of it unfortunately.
today I'm working from home and tonight its off to
Jeff Waynes War of
the Worlds at the albert hall which I'm well excited about.
google calendar
about time too! google finally release their calendar. looks like it might have been worth the wait - has rss and ical feeds for both private and public(shared) calendars. allows you to give specific people access to your calendars - alround looks a bit ace. how long before there's something to sync it with outlook?
£85 sandwhich
BBC NEWS | England | London | 'Most expensive sandwich' on sale
this was linked to on fraser's blog (the man who made the big scotch egg, created kitten wars etc.).
Neil how do you rate this use of the sandwhich? I know you've already been on TV extoling the virtues of sandwhiches, so you must surely have an opinion on this?
Graham Coxon
Everything out of order today earlier last week we went to see Graham at Hammermsmith Palais. Top night - his new album is his best yet and they were in full on shouty mode. Here's a grainy photo from my phone.
Toad-in-the-hole
Also wanted to post this: my dinner from last night. Toad in the hole is such and easy thing to make - 20 minutes and you've got a great dinner. I added some fresh thyme and some mushrooms for extra interest!
Top tip for this is that the dish/oil you're making it in has to be really hot when you poor the batter in - this way the batter seals as its put in and doesnt stick all over the place!
hurrah! scooter has sold on ebay
Scooter sold for a tidy sum which is all good. Have my full bike test in two weeks time so then it'll be onto ebay for the tw125 as well!
Had a smashing weekend which involved watching far too much tv. Cleaned all the vehicles on Saturday and mucked out the van - it hadn't been cleaned properly since it was delivered over a year ago. Half of several european beaches had found its way into the nooks and crannies of the van. Sunday we had a Pride and Prejudice marathon - all 6 hours of it.
Ooh Mr Darcy.
Now start a beard!
Now start a beard!I know several people who have filmed/taken pictures whilst shaving their beard off but this is genious. It seems to be taking him rather a long time to grow a beard though? Is it Leigh Woolley in disguise?
Grass Armchair - Gizmodo
Grass Armchair - Gizmodoalthough it's only cardboard, i like this.
tv takeaways and shock horror exercise
lovely weekend of not doing a great deal but watching lots of tv, drinking tea and eating homemade flapjacks. saturday night was marred slightly, by yet another incident in our street - this time resulting in our front garden wall being knocked over. the police were already in the street and dealt with it quite well I thought - essentially the kids outside had been mugged by some older kid/bloke who was trying to take their mobiles. apparently a known crim they went off to knick him for it and so hopefully we should get our wall sorted out.
yesterday myself and mr fermi graced poole harbour with our presence and windsurfing prowess. it was a very windy day for the first of our windsurfing season and there was a casualty in the form of nick's sail which he decided he would dive through for no apparent reason.
tried out the panoramic function on my camera phone but it doesnt look very exciting as there isn't anything in the foreground.
other stuff, my scooter is for sale on ebay. hope this sells soon as I dont really have room for a scooter, a motorbike, a van and a car outside the house.
oh and I ate more takeaways last week than I have in the last year. curry from the raipur, fish and chips from kings and chinese from the happy garden not once but twice. so this week will be fish and vegetables!
